La Bohème Dala-Floda Operafest
La Bohème is Puccini's masterpiece about the bohemians who choose the love of art over security, money and convention.
La bohème is an opera in four acts by Giacomo Puccini. Libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica after a novel by the French writer Henry Murger (Henri Louis Murger): Scènes de la Vie de Bohème (Vagabond life in Paris).
The opera festival puts a local touch in La Bohème with Valborrar, which is an ancient tradition in Dala-Floda. Since time immemorial, in addition to the traditional Walpurgis Fair celebration with fires, there have also been valborrar here in the area. Valborrar are costumed people, who are supposed to be "uglier than the trolls" and make noise at the fires. The tradition originates from a time when witches and trolls were believed. These would now be scared away by spring and summer.
